Organize a brainstorming session

It is often necessary to think in groups to generate ideas, identify solutions and define action plans. The Brainstorming module is made for that!

It allows you to collect the contributions of your participants in an organized way, and to sort them for automated restitution and export.

1 - Presentation of the Wisembly brainstorming

On Wisembly, a brainstorming is divided into 4 stages:

  1. Generating creative ideas: it allows all participants to send ideas individually according to your instructions. At this point, the participant only sees the ideas he has posted.
  2. Sorting: it allows to reveal to all the ideas put forward. Your participants can react to each of them by "liking" the contributions that they find most interesting. This sequence will allow you to rank the ideas identified by importance and perceived relevance.
  3. Visualization: it allows you to display the results by theme and popularity. Participants can comment on each of the messages.
  4.  Archiving: it marks the end of your brainstorming. The content will be archived and exportable for analysis and sharing.

 2 - Prepare your brainstorming

In the left part of the "Configure your wiz" section, go to "Brainstorming" in the "Modules" subsection.

Wisembly has provided you with a pre-established configuration to facilitate the creation of your brainstorming. However, you can customize the different steps of your brainstorming for a more targeted use.

1 - Give a title and description to your brainstorming

This information will appear during the screening.

2 - Set up your tags

Tags are labels that participants can associate with their messages. They allow a categorization of the messages sent. To add a tag, click on the "+" button. Then, you can easily modify or delete them by using the pen-shaped button.

In short, the tags correspond to the different themes you have, or to the 3 or 4 columns you might have on a flipchart.

3 - Set up the process of your brainstorming

For each of the 3 steps (Ideation, Sorting, Visualizing), you can modify the title, instructions and duration, at your convenience.

Note that the duration here is only an indication. While you are facilitating your brainstorming, if this time is up but you have not clicked on "next", don't worry, participants will be able to continue to participate.

Note :

The advanced parameters of each of the 3 steps are pre-set in order to optimize the progress of your wiz (Moderation enable during the sorting to make ideas secret, limitation of the size of publications to 100 characters...). We advise you not to change them.

3 - Lead your brainstorming

Go to your Wiz> Run> Brainstorming.

Then, to start the brainstorming, click on "Start brainstorming".

Throughout the entire process of your brainstorming, to move from one step to the next, click on the "next step" button.

Step 1: Lead the idea generation

Administrator Interface: Idea Generation starts as soon as you click on "Start brainstorming".

All ideas posted by participants will be visible in the "Moderation" section. Note that only the administrator/moderator can access it. You can modify, delete and paste tags into them. It is also possible to publish them to display them to everyone - which we do not recommend in order not to influence participants.

Participant Interface : Each participant will be able to post an idea. All they have to do is type the message, click on the corresponding tag(s) and click on "publish".

Step 2: Facilitate the sorting process

All messages are visible to participants. They can "liker" the ideas that seem most relevant to them.

As an administrator/moderator, you can display the contributions tag by tag on the participants' screens.

Step 3: Animate the visualization

The generated ideas are displayed on the projection interface, classified by tag and by decreasing popularity.

You also have the possibility to display ideas tag by tag. (1)

In addition, if you have activated the functionality beforehand, participants can comment on the ideas generated. (2)

To end the brainstorming, click on "Archive brainstorming" (3). You then have the option of exporting the brainstorming content to Excel. To do this, go to Analyze > Exports >Brainstorming.
